He grew up on a dairy farm in Northeast Ohio, and the farm (Ridge Dell Holsteins) is still in the family, operated by his brother Glenn and father Bob. Alan is an Honors graduate of Ohio State University, with a Master of Science degree, and 34 years of commodity market experience. He was Director of Market Information for Ohio Farm Bureau Federation from 1978-1992. He then served as Senior Analyst and then Director of Research and editor of DTN AgDaily for 10 years, writing an estimated 10,000 marketing columns, including the DTN opening, midday and closing grain comments and a host of feature articles. His work was read daily by more than 120,000 US and Canadian ag producers and businesses. He has conducted more than 800 seminars and presentations for farm and commodity trading audiences. Brugler Marketing & Management LLC is registered as a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA). Alan is a Principal and Associated Person for Brugler Marketing & Management LLC. Alan has extensive contacts in the US and international ag industry. He has been a frequent Technical Analysis and Advanced Options instructor for the Texas Master Marketer program, and the Kansas State International Grains (IGP) program. Alan is a key speaker and resource for Ag Mktg. Strategy Groups. He is a Consulting Analyst for DTN. He writes the popular weekly Market Watch with Alan Brugler column for Farm Journal’s AgWeb Web site. He also appears on a regular basis as a guest analyst for PBS' Market to Market program, and Farm Journal's US Farm Report, as well as on AgDay TV. Alan’s marketing philosophy is that “producers only want to pass negative price risk on to others, but want to keep the positive risk”. Ag Market Professional hedging strategies are designed to be one directional in their risk profile when possible, and to maximize revenues through a combination of basis, LDP, CCP, cash sales and hedges. Crop revenue insurance and government price floors are also included in the overall strategy. Alan believes that “traders open their wallets before they open their mouths”. Because the news lags the market, Alan has been a proponent of using technical analysis tools to identify where the money appears to be going. He invented the Brugler Cycle Indicator. Please remember that there is a risk of loss in futures and options trading, and that past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. The Special Research Reports (SRR) service is targeted at producers who make their own decisions but need some supporting information to set price targets. This also often applies to subscribers of other advisory services who want Alan’s unique view of the ag markets. Alan believes that the Ag Market Professional service, a combination of daily comments, the privilege of consulting with him at crucial times, Market Monitor cell phone price quotes and the SRR service, is the best overall package for a larger farm operator.
